Description
Help teach your students about Emotional Regulation by focusing on thinking about the size of problems. This game starts with a discussion about why students should be aware of the size of the problem before having (typically an oversized) emotional reaction to the situation. I have many students in my counseling who break out into tantrums and outbursts for small problems, such as someone sitting in their chair or losing at a game. I made this for them, and you can use it too!
Learning to think about the size of problems can help student to identify situations where their emotional responses should match the situation. It can also help them to learn to think of solutions to their problems of any size. As the counselor, you will lead them in the game, but then contribute to the discussion of a solution they could make before having a big emotion to a small problem.
This game is a fun and easy way to help students learn to think about the SIZE of Problems and can be played in a small group or classroom setting.
